Fun Nose Work was designed to develop your dog's natural scenting abilities, as well as its natural hunting instincts. The sport builds confidence, burns off physical and mental energy, and reinforces the bond between the owner and dog. It's great for shy or insecure dogs. and dogs that may be reactive around people or other dogs. Dogs of any age and size can participate and it's a great activity to do for dogs and handlers that may have physical limitations. Fun Nose Work uses the same training techniques as seen in narcotics/explosives detection training, but it's geared for the pet dog and its owner.  This six-week class is designed to introduce you and your dog to Fun Nose Work. The goals of this class are to teach your dog to conduct searches in simple environments using box hides, environmental hides. and simple elevated hides, You will learn how to read your dog when it is in odor (i.e. what is the dog's body carriage, tail set, ear set etc. when it is in odor.) You will learn beginning line handling techniques as well as ways to help your dog in tough search situations without showing them where the actual hide is. Ultimately you will learn how to control the environment in order to set the dog up for success. Sign up for this class! |
